Living in a world reliant on digital connectivity, access to the internet has become more than just a convenience—it's a necessity for work, education, and entertainment. However, the affordability of reliable home internet remains a barrier for many individuals and families across the United States.

To address this issue, the government took action by introducing the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) in 2022, replacing the previous Emergency Broadband Benefit. The ACP aims to support eligible households by providing a $30 monthly discount on internet bills, with an increased subsidy of $75 for those residing on Tribal lands. Notably, as of October 2, more than 21 million households have enrolled in this program, highlighting its widespread relevance and impact.

This initiative is a testament to the pressing need for affordable internet access nationwide and reflects the government's commitment to ensuring fair and equal access to digital resources for all.

Access to reliable internet is vital, and the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) aims to assist low-income households. Eligibility relies on:

  • Lifeline program participation: Automatically qualifies for ACP.

  • Government assistance programs like Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, WIC: Eligible for ACP enrollment.

  • Income at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines: Qualifies for ACP.

  • Understanding these criteria is key to determine eligibility for the ACP, ensuring access to essential internet resources without financial strain.

Accessing the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) involves three diverse application methods, ensuring flexibility for interested individuals.

  • Online Application: Create an account through the ACP's dedicated online portal to initiate the application process digitally.

  • Mail Application: For those favoring physical applications, print out the form, complete it, and send the necessary documents to ACP Support Center.

  • Contact Your ISP: Reach out to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to inquire whether they participate in the ACP. If they do, your ISP can provide guidance through the necessary steps for application.
